This presentation discusses the main ideas of knowledge building and using Knowledge Forum. It is intended for students and their teachers. Topics covered include:
- Why knowledge building is important
- Key ideas: real ideas; idea improvement; sharing ideas; and self-assessment
- Aspects of working with Knowledge Forum: notes; questions; scaffolds; keywords, making links; rise above; and summary notes
The presentation is not meant to provide training in the use of Knowledge Forum, but points out reasons and general strategies. For example, it is explained why it is a good idea to add keywords to a note but not in detail how to do it. Although an “old style” format (mainly words), it provides a starting point for figuring out how to get more out of work on Knowledge Forum.
